Symbolising passion, power, and vitality, rubies are believed to bring the wearer a strong connection to the Sun’s energies, representing courage, confidence, and success. Its allure extends beyond its beauty, with rubies holding significant astrological and spiritual benefits. This guide covers the key aspects of rubies, from their varieties to their astrological importance.

Black Hakik (Black Agate) is mined in various parts of the world. Some of the key locations where Black Agate is sourced include:

  1. India: India is one of the largest producers of agate stones, including Black Agate, especially from the state of Gujarat.
  2. Brazil: Brazil is known for its extensive gemstone mining industry, and Black Agate is commonly mined here, particularly in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
  3. Uruguay: Like Brazil, Uruguay is also a significant source of agate stones, including Black Agate.
  4. Mexico: Mexico is well-known for producing a variety of agates, including Black Agate, often found in volcanic rock regions.
  5. United States: Certain parts of the U.S., especially in states like Oregon, Montana, and Wyoming, are known for producing high-quality Black Agate.
  6. Botswana: Botswana is famous for its high-quality agate stones, including some varieties of Black Agate.
  7. China: China also has significant mining operations for agate stones, including Black Agate, with deposits found in various regions.

These locations provide a substantial portion of the global supply of Black Agate, which is then used in jewellery and for astrological purposes worldwide.

Varieties of Rubies

Rubies are classified into different varieties based on their origin, colour, and clarity. Some of the most prized varieties include:

1. Burmese Ruby (Mogok Ruby)

  • Origin: Myanmar (Burma)
  • Colour: Pigeon blood red, considered the finest ruby colour with a rich, deep red hue.
  • Features: Highly prized for its intense red colour and clarity. Known for its exceptional brightness, these rubies are the most valuable. The most rare rubies in the world are Mogok Old Burma Rubies.
  • Astrological Impact: The Burmese ruby is believed to have the strongest influence on leadership qualities, courage, and self-esteem.

2. Thai Ruby

  • Origin: Thailand
  • Colour: Darker red, sometimes with brownish tones.
  • Features: Thai rubies are slightly darker and less vibrant than Burmese rubies but are still highly valued.
  • Astrological Impact: It enhances self-control, focus, and determination.

3. African Ruby

  • Origin: Mozambique, Madagascar
  • Colour: Pinkish-red to purplish-red.
  • Features: African rubies are known for their affordability and come in a range of red shades. Their colour is usually slightly lighter than Burmese rubies.
  • Astrological Impact: These rubies are believed to strengthen personal growth and bring clarity of thought.

4. Tanzanian / *Mozambique Ruby

  • Origin: Tanzania (Africa’s ruby deposits are primarily found in Mozambique, Tanzania, and Kenya.)
  • Color: Deep red with purplish undertones.
  • Features: This variety is noted for its vibrant red with slight purplish hues and good clarity.
  • Astrological Impact: Promotes wisdom, self-discipline, and spiritual growth.
  • *The largest and most expensive ruby ever sold at auction was the 55.22 carat Estrela de Fura ruby, which sold for $34.8 million at Sotheby’s in 2023. The ruby was discovered in Mozambique in 2022 by FURA, the gemstone mining company. The rough ruby weighed 101 carats and was cut into a cushion-cut ruby in Bangkok.

Understanding Ruby Quality: The 4 Cs

Just like diamonds, rubies are also evaluated based on the 4 Cs:

1. Cut:

  • The cut of a ruby affects its sparkle and overall brilliance. Oval and cushion cuts are the most popular, but round and pear shapes are also common.

2. Colour:

  • The most sought-after rubies are vivid red to slightly purplish red. The intensity of color greatly affects the ruby’s value, with the pigeon blood red being the highest quality.

3. Clarity:

  • Rubies typically contain some inclusions, which are natural imperfections. Stones without visible inclusions are extremely rare and highly valuable. Common inclusions include rutile needles known as “silk.”

4. Carat:

  • Larger rubies are rarer than diamonds. The value increases significantly with size, especially in high-quality stones with excellent color and clarity.

Kundalini: The Coiled Energy Within

Kundalini, a Sanskrit term meaning “coiled one,” is a concept in Hinduism referring to a powerful energy said to lie dormant at the base of the spine. It’s often visualised as a coiled serpent. This energy is believed to be awakened through various spiritual practices like yoga, meditation, or breathwork, leading to spiritual enlightenment and a connection with the divine.

Here’s a breakdown of the key aspects of Kundalini:

  • Location: Kundalini is said to reside in the Muladhara chakra, located at the base of the spine.
  • Dormancy: In its unawakened state, Kundalini is described as being coiled and dormant.
  • Awakening: Through spiritual practices, Kundalini can be awakened, causing it to rise up the spine through various energy centres called chakras.
  • Transformation: As Kundalini ascends, it’s believed to activate and balance each chakra, leading to personal transformation and spiritual growth.
  • Union: The ultimate goal is for Kundalini to reach the Sahasrara chakra at the crown of the head, signifying the union of individual consciousness with the universal consciousness.

Comparisons to Other Traditions:

The concept of Kundalini has parallels in other spiritual traditions:

  • Holy Spirit: In Christianity, the Holy Spirit is sometimes seen as a reflection of Kundalini.
  • Chi/Prana: In Chinese medicine and yoga, Chi or Prana is the vital energy that flows throughout the body. It’s seen as similar to Kundalini.
  • Resurrection: The awakening of Kundalini is sometimes compared to a spiritual rebirth or resurrection.

Combining Rudraksha Beads

For beginners on a spiritual journey, it is recommended to start with a combination of 5 Mukhi Nepali Rudraksha and one Ganesh Mukhi Nepali Rudraksha along with your Gemstones. This combination is believed to remove obstacles, increase courage, and bring wealth. To know exactly which bead you should wear according to your planetary chart, please book a consultation with our astrologers or Acharyas to get a complete horoscope chart as per Indian traditions, ensuring you buy the exact Rudraksha that will provide maximum benefits.

Do you know a few facts about Original Natural Nepali origin Rudrakshas :

According to a leading radiological research and analysis done at Banaras Hindu University of Varanasi in India, it is found that a Natural Nepali Rudraksha has a composition mix of copper, iron, manganese, barium, iron, gold and silver elements in different-different compositions in each Nepali Rudraksha. Each Nepali Origin Rudraksha has physiochemical properties, composition of minerals and moisture, oil and a specific gravity of 1.6481 and any Nepali Rudraksha having a gravity greater than 1 will sink in water else can float in water also.

Nepali Orginal Rudraksha is the only seed in the world which has seeds inside its hollow chambers which have seeds in its womb having “spandan” or vibration. This vibration is due to electromagnetic, paramagnetic and inductive properties which are very-very high in natural Nepali Rudraksha varying in different Mukhi’s which upon wearing and meditating purifies your blood and opens your heart chakra and agya (or ajna) chakra is also known as the third eye chakra.

It sends electrical impulses to the agya chakra making you aware and intuitive to take positive decisions and helping you transform your mental ability to think faster. In Hindu tradition, it is the sixth primary chakra in the body and is located in the centre of the forehead, between the eyebrows and meditating on this with Guru Mantra you can activate your Crown Chakra called Sahasrara. (*Made of a thousand Petals Crown Chakra is called Sahasrara).

Wearing a Rudraksha can change your personality inside out with clearer thoughts, a calm personality, a smiling face and an aura on your face, forehead temple and skin which radiates the energies of your activated chakra which others can sense by feeling good about you and that you automatic start healing others when you are around them.

Others start showing a positive way of speaking and looking at you. You may get this to hear often “You have changed or You sound different”. This is the power of Original Nepali Rudraksha, you have to wear it and meditate on its energy to feel the changes taking you to an alpha state of mind, activating the endocrine gland, regulating blood circulation, controlling high BP, reducing your breath count which helps you live longer removing depression or hypertension.

You feel the energy of neurons, which makes you calmer (neurons are the key players in the brain). That is the reason why in Hindu or Tebetian Buddhist Religion we are asked to chant mantras on a Rudraksha bead as by pressing a bead from 3 fingers in a way that presses an acupressure point in your thumb which starts opening your pineal gland, also known as the epiphysis cerebri or pineal body (in our language agya (or ajna) chakra), is a small, cone-shaped gland in the brain that produces melatonin, a hormone that regulates circadian rhythms and seasonal physiology.

It’s located in the midline of the brain, between the thalamic bodies, and behind the habenular commissure. The pineal gland is part of the endocrine system and is bathed in cerebrospinal fluid its main function is to produce melatonin in a cyclical pattern at night, which helps regulate sleep patterns and the body’s internal clock. Melatonin levels change throughout the day and year, and the gland’s rhythm is controlled by clock genes in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), which is synchronized to the light-dark cycle. Melatonin also affects the reproductive system and may help protect cells from damage. The main function of the pineal gland (in our language agya (or ajna) chakra),  is to receive and convey information about the current light-dark cycle from the environment via the production and secretion of melatonin cyclically at night (dark period).

The ajna chakra or pineal gland is also connected to the pituitary and hypothalamus glands, as well as the eyes, ears, and nose hence upon wearing rudraksha increases your sensitivity or sixth sense. Some believe that the ajna chakra stimulates energies to provide clarity and move to a higher plane of perception or intuition which is called sixth sense.

When you are doing this pooja ensure you are wearing any Gemstone / Rudraksha on a certain day between 3:00 AM – 5:00 AM before Sunrise or from sunrise maximum before 9:00 AM. Wear white fresh or new clothes during this pooja and seek blessings by touching the feet of your mother as she is the 1st Guru of your’s who gave you the birth, she taught you how to speak and fed you from her womb before your birth. If parents are not there touch the feet of Lord Ganesha (if no idol is present imagine or check a photo of Shree Siddhi Vinayak Ganesha Ji from Mumbai) and take his blessings as Guru or if you have taken deeksha from a reverend guru take his blessings.

Some individuals choose to wear it on auspicious occasions such as MahaShivaratri or Navratri however, every day is auspicious but it best is to wear a rudraksha on Monday or Tuesday between 3:00 AM – 5:00 AM from sunrise. These occasions are believed to amplify the spiritual energy and significance of the bead.

When not to wear :

Rudraksha beads / gemstones hold significant spiritual value and there are certain circumstances where it is advised not to wear them.

  • Avoid wearing Rudraksha beads / Gemstones in places associated with impurity or negativity such as cemeteries, burial grounds or toilet lavatories. Rudraksha/gemstones can be worn during urinals but avoided during using lavatories.
  • During the sutak, which is a period of ritual impurity observed after events such as childbirth or death in a family or visiting a funeral, it is suggested to refrain from wearing Rudraksha beads /gemstones for a minimum of 13 to 15 days from the event.
  • This period is associated with purification and introspection and wearing the beads /gemstones during this time might be seen as inappropriate or in conflict with the observance of sutak. Do not worry your beads /gemstones still protect you as they are connected with your energy and soul like Bluetooth.
  • Girls/women should refrain from wearing Rudraksha beads during the menopause period. No Girl child below 12 years of age should be given a rudraksha to be worn as till age 12 a girl child is considered as “Devi Swarupa” as per Hinduism. Wearing a gemstone is no problem it can be worn all the times. We recommend childrens to be offered gemstones only after they have completed their age of 12, in minor cases gems like perls or gomed (Onyx) can be given in child hood in rare cases due to health issues. Please consult an astrologer based on that decide for a remedy.
  • Do not wear rudraksha regularly during bathing and do not apply chemicals such as soap, shampoos etc. You can wear them rarely during bathing as with water the beads can get weak and can break after a few years. Normally natural rudraksha seeds have a life span of 500 to 1000 years if retained carefully. Rudraksha can float or sink in water to avoid losing them avoid wearing them in swimming pools or rivers if you plan to take a dip. This is not applicable in cases of Gemstones it should be worn all the time and should be removed occasionally like during Gyms workout etc.
  • When wearing Rudraksha one should stay away from non-veg food and alcohol forever or try to abstain from indulging in these activities. If you take or consume these things, keep Rudraksha beads in a clean and sacred place so that their energy and purity can be maintained. If you have stahapit (installed) a bangalamukhi yantra at your home or office it is prohibited as per shastra not to eat non-veg and alcohol at home or forever, and wear rudraksha as this can have very high negative effects on such person who do not maintain the sanctity of Rudraksha. This is not applicable in cases of Gemstones it should be worn all the time and should be removed occasionally.
  • Avoid wearing Rudraksha while sleeping alone or with your partner, you can not wear Rudraksha while having sex. This is not applicable in cases of Gemstones it should be worn all the time.
  • If a person owning a rudraksha dies wearing it that rudraksha should be burned with that person during his last rites or cremation so that he can get moksha. In case if he wishes to leave it (Rudraksha or Siddhamala) behind to his family before death, those rudrakshas / gemstones should be kept in the home temple after cleansing and should be worshipped, these can be later given to his children or spouse to be worn and later given to the future generations.
  • Since rudraksha/gemstones has the energy of the person who has been wearing it for years, if rudrakshas are on the body of the wearer at the time of death it should be burned with the body during cremation mandatorily to grant liberation or moksha to the departed soul in the last moment to go to the universe for the next phase or complete freedom from life or birth attaining “Moksha” in case of gemstones they should be offered is a scared river like “Ganga”. In cases of Gemstones it should be removed from the body and if very precious can be cleansed and retained else it should be offered to a flowing river to grant freedome and liberation to the departed. If you hold rare Nepali Rudrakshas or Nepali Siddhamalas or Very Precious gemstones we recommend you to transfer it your family members drafting a legal will as these are rare and precious and with time may appreciate in value.
  • You can gift your rudraksha (not gemstones) to another person if you may wish but you should not do so outside your family until and unless you are a highly educated and qualified Hindu priest, scholar of Vedas or tantric sciences or a renowned Guru. Once you have worn a rudraksha/gemstones it should not be sold ahead whatever may be the circumstances, however, only rudrakshas can be transferred or gifted to your blood relatives or family members. Ideally Gemstones worn by one person should not be used by another person, this is against ethics of astrology to recommend other person stone to any other person..
  • Stone Change: Some believe that precious / semiprecious (any) gemstones stones should be changed every five to seven years to maintain their astrological benefits and ensure that their energies remain active. The new stone gives you new energy, the old stone can also be used as a locket or can be designed as an accessory etc for the same individual but can be sold or exchanged.

It is always advisable to consult with a knowledgeable spiritual guide, astrologer or meditator before wearing a Gemstone, Rudraksha bead or Siddhamala. You can book a paid consultation with our Acharyas / Astrologers,  Rudraksha and Gemstone experts to guide you better.

May the Mahadev Shiva “God of gods” give you spiritual knowledge, abundance and clear insights to move forward in your life. Om Namah Shivaya.

Its allure extends beyond its beauty, with rubies holding significant astrological and spiritual benefits. Some of the key locations where Black Agate is sourced include:
  1. India: India is one of the largest producers of agate stones, including Black Agate, especially from the state of Gujarat.

The ruby was discovered in Mozambique in 2022 by FURA, the gemstone mining company. The rough ruby weighed 101 carats and was cut into a cushion-cut ruby in Bangkok.

Understanding Ruby Quality: The 4 Cs

Just like diamonds, rubies are also evaluated based on the 4 Cs:1.

Conclusion
